I have devoted my life to the care and well being of animals.
I feel as if I work for them. They can be demanding at times. Other times it is pure joy. Then, all too often, there are the times that your heart breaks for them. All of that is part of living for livestock.

We lived for over 30 years in the beautiful Butternut Valley region of central New York State. One of the largest Butternut trees in the county grew in my in laws back yard. Several of it's offspring still live there. When it came time to name my Jacob flock I chose to honor this delicious and versatile nut tree.
The Butternut, also known as the white walnut, has a delicious edible nut, produces great lumber and produces a great natural dye once used on confederate uniforms.

After God and my family my first love was and is the horse. What a noble and majestic creature he is. It is an honor to be in their service. I have an A.A.S degree in Equine Sciences.

My next love is my Jacob Sheep. Named for the biblical reference about Jacob selecting spotted male sheep and goats to use for breeding, since his pay was the spotted offspring. I love the variety of patterns and unique horn sets of the Jacob Sheep. (Breed Description) They have fleeces which are sought after by hand spinners. They produce mild flavored meat, with hides and horns as an extra by product.

We have fullblood lowlines and lowline crosses. Mini Panda cattle, yaks, zebu and other mini bovines also make up the herd. We started with a mixed herd and have recently added the lowlines and pandas to improve the quaility of the herd.

In 2016 we added a herd of KuneKune to the roster. We got our first pigs in 2012. They are wonderful. We love our pigs. I was surprised how gentle and loving they can be.

In addition to the equines, bovines and porcines listed above we care for assorted poultry, a wonderful camel, goats, alpacas, a llama and more.
